We Set the Table Anyway: The Truth About Hosting Our Puerto Rico Meetup

There are moments in business that look beautiful on social media.

And then there are the moments that truly build you.

Our Puerto Rico Traveler Meetup was one of those moments.

For weeks, I planned the evening with excitement. I envisioned a room filled with travelers getting to know one another, sharing stories, asking questions, and counting down the days until Puerto Rico.

I prepared the presentation.

I gathered the travel materials.

I made sure every detail was ready.

Then the evening arrived.

And hardly anyone came.

For a moment, I won't pretend it didn't sting.

As a small business owner, you pour your heart into events like these. You wonder whether you promoted enough, whether you chose the right day, or whether you could have done something differently.

Those thoughts are real.

Every entrepreneur has them.

But then something happened that reminded me why I started Wanderlust Amigas in the first place.

Three Amigas

My best friend and other travel buddy. Three amigas!

The people who did come were exactly who needed to be there.

My best friend showed up. Some of my family showed up—not because they had to, but because they believed in me. Their presence reminded me that support doesn't always come from a packed room. Sometimes it comes from the people who quietly cheer you on when no one else sees the work behind the scenes.

I'm grateful for them.

I'm grateful for every traveler who made the effort to attend.

And I'm grateful that we hosted the meetup anyway.

Because that's what building a dream looks like.

It isn't always sold-out events and picture-perfect moments.

Sometimes it's setting up the chairs even when you're not sure who will walk through the door.

Sometimes it's giving the same heartfelt presentation to five people that you would have given to fifty.

Sometimes it's choosing excellence, even when no one is applauding.

The Wanderlust Pause™

One of the greatest lessons entrepreneurship has taught me is this:

Your commitment cannot depend on the crowd.

If you only give your best when the room is full, you'll miss the quiet moments where your character is being built.

Success isn't measured only by attendance.

It's measured by consistency.

By showing up.

By keeping your promises.

By believing in your vision before everyone else does.

That's true in business.

And it's true in life.

What That Evening Gave Me

The meetup wasn't a failure.

It was a reminder.

A reminder that every journey has seasons.

Some seasons are filled with overflowing rooms.

Others are filled with quiet faith.

Both are necessary.

Every conversation we had that evening mattered.

Every question that was asked mattered.

Every person who sat at that table mattered.

Because Wanderlust Amigas has never been about numbers.

It's about people.

It's about creating meaningful experiences, one traveler, one friendship, and one journey at a time.

To the Dreamers Building Something of Their Own

If you're building a business, chasing a dream, or creating something you believe in, don't let one quiet evening convince you that your work isn't making a difference.

Keep planning.

Keep inviting.

Keep serving.

Keep showing up.

The world often celebrates the finished product but rarely sees the countless moments of perseverance that made it possible.

Those unseen moments matter.

They're where resilience grows.

They're where purpose is refined.

And one day, you'll look back and realize those small gatherings weren't signs to quit.

They were proof that you were willing to keep going.

Helping women create a legacy of confidence, freedom, and connection that inspires future generations.

Until Next Time...

As I packed up that evening, I wasn't thinking about the empty chairs.

I was thinking about the conversations we had.

The encouragement from my family, best friend, and travel buddy.

The travelers who trusted me with their upcoming adventure.

And the quiet reminder that dreams are rarely built in one spectacular moment.

They're built by ordinary days, faithful work, and the decision to keep showing up.

That's what running a travel agency has taught me.

Not every event will be full.

Not every post will go viral.

Not every season will be easy.

But if your purpose is genuine, you keep setting the table.

Because one day, the room will fill.

Until then, I'll continue doing what I love—creating meaningful journeys, welcoming women into a community of encouragement, and believing that every step forward, no matter how small, is part of something much bigger.

That's The Wanderlust Amigas Way™—showing up with purpose, serving with heart, and believing in the journey even before everyone else can see where it's leading.
